Today’s thought “Everyone who is of the truth listens” (April 22) Jesus had little to say to the High Priest who first questioned him; he simply told him, “I have spoken openly to the world, I have always taught in the synagogue and in the temple” (John 18:20). Jesus is challenging them; if I have […]

4 1 And now, O Israel, hearken unto the statutes and unto the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them; that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah, the God of your fathers, giveth you. 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye […]
Today’s thought “Do not add anything to what God commands you, and do not take anything away” (April 21) Today we encounter a very important writing which may even frighten us who want to preach. It reminds us of the importance of bringing Gods Word to others how it is and not how human doctrines […]
Today’s thought “The word that I have spoken will …” (April 19) Deuteronomy 2, Proverbs 29, John 12 Deuteronomy, which we are now reading is, to some extent, a kind of history lesson to the next generation – the children of those who had died in the wilderness. This is an example to us – […]
Today’s thought “Gather into one the children of God” (April 18) Disunity is a common feature in our world. The nature of politics highlights this; there is constant debate between opposing voices. In contrast the message of God’s word looks forward to a time of oneness. The friction created by those who were jealous of […]
Today’s thought “The truth will set you free” (April 16) What did Jesus mean, “The Truth will set you free?” Free from what? John 8 today contains aspects of the teachings of Jesus that we have to think around and put into context to get the correct meaning. The critics of Jesus were usually those […]
Today’s thought “If anyone’s will is to do God’s will” (April 15) The Gospel of John is particularly soul stirring as we read it. We learn much detailed information about parts of the ministry of our Lord, filling some of the ‘gaps’ in the other gospels. We learn that the centre of opposition to Jesus […]
Today’s thought “You have the words of eternal life” (April 14) Today’s John 6 is particularly challenging – for our meditation. It needs deep thought for the depth of its meaning to truly come alive in our minds. Many of his disciples found his words too challenging, too difficult to grasp – and “many of […]
Today’s thought “An hour is coming when …” (April 13) In our reading today in John 5, Jesus speaks of the dead hearing his voice! However, note how he says this twice – and the meaning is different! These quotes are in verse 25-29. The first time (verse 25) he says, “I say to you, […]

We are told that everyone who does evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light, and will not come into the light or near it, for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.
